Naked Eye September 11, 2001 was a Tuesday. From my condo window I saw a constant stream of planes taking off or landing at YYZ. And then for three days I saw no planes at all. On Saturday I made my bi-annual trip up north to get together with 4 best buddies for a weekend of connecting and debauchery. We rotate hosting cottages. Twice a year. Open a cottage for the summer. Close a cottage for the winter. So after a day of cutting down trees, drinking beer and winterizing everything we cooked a massive, decadent meal. Beautiful wine, perfect steak and magic mushroom risotto. Then moved outside to sit lakeside and stargaze. Beautifully clear night. This song came on just as we sat down and no one spoke until it was over. We were sitting under the flight path between Toronto and Europe and there was a steady stream of military jets zooming across the flight path. Trying to get away from it all. Shrooms kicking in. Stargazing. Reality intruding. Not sure why I thought of that this week but there it is.
