For you thenewgreen, because I know that the only thing you love more than the Beatles is Green Acres.
This was awesome. I haven't thought of that television show in years... Strange that you posted this tonight as I had already planned on overtaking Hubski with Beatles posts tonight.
Give those Beatles a rest. They may be the 2nd best rock band and first best pop band of all time... Uh, sorry, I'm in my cups... I have often thought of who might like these outstanding tracks and you and ecib have both come to mind. Robert Johnson might not have been in the greatest pop or rock bands of all time (he tried out for the Stones but Ron Wood beat him out) but he might be one of the greatest pop rock guitar players of all time. The album is tight, the guitar playing is outstanding without being over the top, the lyrics are actually pretty damn good. If you like it I'd recommend buying it on vinyl because the album cover is sooooo dope. You can see the front but I assure you that the back cover is just as Rad. He cut his teeth as a sessions player at Stax (in the august company of Steve Cropper) but his only solo album went no where. He ended up being Pete Entwistle's (of Who fame's) studio and tour guitarist. Nick Lowe's first album is just fucking classic. He produced a bunch of Elvis Costello's albums, He produced the first punk rock album (the Dammed) he wrote a bunch of great songs. Lets get off the range, how about some Bozz Scaggs. Well fuck you if Bozz Scaggs is too pedestrian... Slave must have some of the best Afro Acid guitar playing this side of Fuckadellic.
