Thank you! :) Yes, there really isn't much in between Miami and Orlando. 76 miles is pretty rough though. Also, I don't know about you, but I found Florida drivers to be awful. They don't use turn signals, cut people off, stick out in traffic, rely on their brakes too much, and generally are reckless. I suppose it has to do with the overcrowding and terrible traffic.
Terrible driving is a gem of Southern culture. I'm not going to speculate on the reasons for it, but every state between California and Florida seems to suffer from reckless endangerment by motor vehicle. I'm in TX. Every day I can ask myself, "Have I almost died today?", and if the answer is "No", then I haven't yet used my car. Sometimes it's just like I'm dodging peoples' attempts to kill me. When I was working up in Colorado for a few weeks last year, I was positively floored at my experiences on the roads. People were paying attention, using turn signals, accelerating and braking logically, etc. Still in disbelief at how there is such a disparity in the culture of driving across the nation, and if I could throw money at driverless car tech to hasten the onset, I would.
Perhaps it's that people from states in the South and West don't have to drive in the snow half the year? Hence they have less incentive and experience to drive more conservatively?
