I didn't think Man of Steel was bad, but it did disappoint me. I thought it was mediocre. There was so much that even I thought they could improve on. For example, one thing I really wish Snyder had done was use more natural lighting/colour. The costume used for Superman's role was really beautiful, and I think the under-saturated colour ruined it. If Snyder had used more natural colour for Man of Steel, for Batman's scenes in BvS, they could have had a bleaker colour and lighting to them. What would this result in? Easy and excellent juxtaposition between the lighting in Batman and Superman's scenes. I digress...

I don't think Jason Momoa is exactly what I think of when I imagine the Aryan-esque Aquaman. I don't mind change, though, and I did like him in Game of Thrones. On the other hand, I am thrilled and excited for Jesse Eisenberg. I was initially... interested, I suppose. I thought he was a curious choice for Lex Luthor. Now having seen the trailer, I have high hopes for him as Lex. I am excited for his part alone.

I think they need a better director than Snyder. God knows there are far worse than Snyder, but for an excellent movie, I think they need someone better. I have however heard that Chris Terrio is re-writing Goyer's original script. which could really make this movie excellent. He's the only reason I have any expectations. I personally think Goyer's writing is so-so, but he is quite familiar with DC lore, isn't he? If he writes an initial mediocre story, then a better writer improves it, it could make for an enthralling film. After all, this is what happened with the Dark Knight Trilogy.

Overall, I expect the movie will be good -- not great per se, but good.

YES. The GrimDark tones and the LITERAL dark tones used in the filtering give a very... I want to say Noir feel, but thats not perfect. It IS gritty. And hyperrealistic. I concur on the costume, and wish they had found a more accurate looking actor for the role. In Henry's defense, he has great presence onscreen and seems to have acting moxy, but he's not selling the "Original Boyscout who will always find a better alternative to killing as a built in weakness much more compelling than glowing green rocks" (say that 3 times fast) vibe for me. And the part killing me about it is that I can't tell if it's more Henry... or Snyder. Although I'm gonna be real here and lean towards the latter. I'm all for modernization of classic characters, but making Supes a cop-out killer is literally assassinating the core of his character. I hope they try to gradually shift back to his roots but the trailer for BS is giving no indications in veering off that course.

Aquaman is exciting for me because I LOVE Jason in most stuff I've seen. He's a weird Aquaman to be sure but, like Wondy, it's gonna be a tough role to popularize going out the door. This movie is going to be a NO FISH YODELING ZONE. I expect far more hookhand badassery and ridiculous sharksummoning. A Khal Drogo Aquaman seems just amazing for this and I'm far more excited for it than I have any right to be.

Gal Godot... where do I start? The "50 shekels amazon left breast removal" interview aside... she looks nothing like the character, and the Victoria's Secret catwalk pouty lips and pose are causing me no end of grief. Most critics say Wondy is gonna be impossible to pull off with a modern audience, but I would urge folks to look at her in Justice League. Badass with a heart of gold, and the ability to get rough in melee with a whole assortment of echanted legendary equipment. WHERE WAS RHONDA ROUSEY WHEN THEY WERE LOOKING FOR AN ACTRESS?!? Even Rhonda would have a better acting presence. And that's not exaggeration. Finally, she was told she would need to bulk up to a certain parameter for the role. She didn't meet the requirement at the end of the deadline...but they caved and gave her the role anyway... I can't be cool with that after Tobey McGuire put on almost 70lbs of muscle for the Spiderman role after being turned down for being scrawny. No followthrough.

I don't know enough about Lex's actor to make an accurate judgement, but it's gonna make or break the kickoff. He's the real villain here let's be real. Darkseid is a jerk. But he's not Lex Luthor.

And finally. WHERE MUH MARTIAN MANHUNTER AT?

Gal Gadot missed weight, huh? Funny. Usually that's something only fighters have to worry about. I kid though. I kid. I don't think I'd want Rhonda Rousey as WW though. Her acting is very, very wooden. I think the last thing DC needs, with their poor movie track record, is a wild card like that. They need someone who can not only fit the bill of Wonder Woman, but who can act as well. Sooo, why they went with Gal Gadot? I dunno. Still a wild card.

I don't think it was Cavill's fault. I think he was merely trying to work with what Snyder and Goyer handed to him. I really think he could have made a fantastic Superman.

I forgot about Gadot... I am convinced she is nothing more than eye-candy, really.

I concur with this actually. He managed to make his character in a horrible show like the Tudors the only good one despite the shows best efforts. He just doesn't LOOKING like a Kal-El... but I'll forgive it easily if they can nail the character.

That video has been criticised for misrepresenting the issue. Here's a brief counterpoint.
