Wow, it's been that long for Saydrah? Crazy. I dig Saydrah. I thought the syncretic thing was an interesting study in "influxes." LOTS of people came over. Many of them were dicks for the first few days and then, quickly they shifted. They started to act according to the community they were among. That syncretic went back to reddit doesn't surprise me. Hubski IS NOT a good replacement for reddit. Reddit gives people the sort of quick-fix, karma that Hubski cannot. Also, reddit is really good at a lot of things. There is a HUGE amount of content there. We don't want Hubski to be a reddit replacement. We want it to be Hubski. I think syncretic understood that, but apparently, ultimately it wasn't what he was interested in. I hope he is well though. I had some nice discussions with him back in the day. Nice guy.
I was really surprised to see that syncretic post full of people I recognize from reddit doing the circlejerk. Ugh. I really like syncretic (now karmicviolence) as well and saydrah (now somename I can not remember) and a lot of the other people in that thread. When you get a kick out of getting 5,000 points for posting a picture of a potato that looks like a comic book character or something there are no replacements for reddit.
