Abolishing the EC is long overdue, the point was made here by kleinbl00 that the electoral college effectively eliminates the ability of a 3rd party candidate to win. Want to ensure we remain a two party system? -then keep the EC. The DEM and GOP's know this so unless we as a nation kick and scream it's not going anywhere.
But you're right, they could get a lot more done on the national scene if they abandoned party politics and banded together to accomplish common objectives like campaign finance reform and abolishing the Electoral College and our two party system. I always think of the Native American's that could have easily defeated the European colony's if they had just banded together and didn't fight against one another. That's the way I feel about the OWS movement and the TP.
