this just got me excited about what might be a difficult goal to achieve: hubski camping meet up

Adirondack's?

caeli  ·  3191 days ago  ·  link  ·

I'm about to move to upstate NY so I vote yes!!!

I'd love to make it there at some point but central is probably better if we want a decent sized meetup

I'm in if it is anywhere within 6 hours of St. Louis.

I'm in DC but would be willing to travel.

I'm in NC. Maybe the west side of the Virginia Appalachians?

Cumberland Gap Nat'l Park?

This seems like a great idea. I don't know what I can do with my schedule this summer, but I think we could get something together for next spring.

edit: #hubstock

If at all possible, I'd prefer to go when it's not summer because I am a huge baby about heat. I'll put up with it, but I'd be a lot happier in the fall or early spring.

Smokey Mountains?

arguewithatree  ·  3191 days ago  ·  link  ·

that looks like a good midway point. Meriadoc and I have been trying to go camping out here basically since we moved out here. I'm still getting my bearing wrt east coast geography so my sense of distance might be off.

DC and St. Louis are only 14 hours apart surprisingly. When you start getting West after that it's nutty how the distances grow so large.

arguewithatree  ·  3191 days ago  ·  link  ·

14 hours isn't so bad. We'd probably take a day trip or 2 on the way and then meet up with the group.

To the Cumberland Gap from DC is only 8 hours too, so it's roughly equidistant in terms of drive time for both of us.

Cumberland Gap also has caves and I have always wanted to go spelunking

user-inactivated  ·  3191 days ago  ·  link  ·

I've wanted to go there for personal reasons for a while. My ancestors came through the Cumberland gap in the late 1700s to move to Arkansas and Texas.

I have Okies on my mom's side. I bet I could find some sort of history connection there.
