I was kind of disappointed to see another fps while on the planet's surface. I want to know more about the resources you can gather, how you can use them, and what the progression in the game is like. He mentioned the center of the galaxy is a focal point, which seems like an interesting concept. It's likely the closer you get to the center the greater the chance will be of running into another player.
Procedural generation is the one thing that worries me. The developer uses huge numbers like 18 quintillion planets, but how many millions of those planets are slight variations of other ones? I fear that after awhile you will begin to pick up on the patterns, and things will become a bit bland. I mean look at games like Starbound which to a lesser degree is 2D No Man Sky. It has millions of planets, but many of those planets are just slight variations of the next. Many of the planets possess the same vegetation, and species ( there may be slight difference in color). I feel like this is just going to be one of those things you will really have to try.
Games like this are what get me thinking of buying a PS4. I'm looking forward to the release of this game but I am skeptical because the game just seems so large that it may have problems due to its size.
It'll also be released on PC as well, if that's an option for you.
unfortunately I have a macbook so it probably isn't the best thing out there for gaming.
The only fear I have for this game is that every planet you visit will be TOO similar. Yes the critters will be different, and the color will be different, and the resources will be different. I just hope there are populated worlds, inhospitable worlds, worlds covered by a single city, worlds covered by liquid hydrogen, worlds covered in lava, barren worlds. . . all reflective of their position in their solar system and neighboring star systems. The game is already a must buy. And, like a lot of people, I'll be making a beeline to the center of the galaxy. It almost feels like "Ready Player One."
How are you thinking you'll play it? Head for the center? Look for friends? Wander?
The game looks amazing visually and technically, but I continue to remain disappointed by the lack of pvp.
I thought there was going to be pvp? I remember hearing that it would be rare since the universe is so big, but that it would still be there.
maybe they would implement if as a free download update a little time after release if it doesn't come with the base game. Kind of like how that happened with Sniper Elite V2 on the 360.
