I really liked this movie, t o me it wasn't so much about AI as it was about socipathy and what practical cost of intelligence.

The conversation about Jackson Pollock really hit close to home, of what you have to go through psychologically to create something new.

Yes, I enjoyed that side of the film too. There is very much a mental and psychological angle that Garland takes with Nathan. I think the following is important:

The challenge is not to act automatically. It’s to find an action that is not automatic. From talking, to breathing, to painting.

Which relates back to what determines consciousness? Does a certain threshold of randomness have to ensue to pass as conscious? In order to pass the Turing Test, I would say yes, but it also raises questions to the human experience as well, how much of what we do is "automatic"?

thenewgreen, did you end up watching this film?

No, I didn't. I wanted to but I was out of town and went to check in to my hotel and realized I had forgotten my suitcase. Bummer.
