3 things:

1) You will never have your questions answered if you do not ask them.

2) Having your assumptions challenged is the best way to master them.

3) Explaining something to someone else is the best way to learn it for yourself.

The idea behind /r/ELI5 is sound, even if the implementation is off a little. Anybody who truly knows what they're talking about should be eager and willing to explain it to anyone who asks.

You're correct. And, at the end of day, my neglect in regards to asking such questions probably boils down to ego and enthusiasm issues.
