Rowing. I have a pretty weak lower back, and training on an ergometer really helped me. Preferably get someone to show you how to do it properly. Downside: it can boring as hell.

That's what TVs are for.

I had a Concept 2 model C for years. Great machines. I sold it when I moved because the gym here has an E. I also traded out sitting and rowing (mostly) for stand-up paddle via longboard. Downside: you get funny looks.
