I didn't get to Cuzco, as much as I would have liked. I was in Lima visiting my cousin during February, the rainy season in the mountains, which unfortunately makes much of it inaccessible. I got sick as hell, but I attribute that to the lack of soap in any public bathroom. But even if it was the pisco sour, I would do it all over again.

I agree with you about Lima. Its cool, but its like a lot of big cities in that once you've seen the major tourist things, you feel satisfied and want to move on. I loved my stay there and would tell anyone to go for a few days, but I can't say that I'm itching to go back. Cuzco, on the other hand, I would love to tour.

Are you telling me that pisco sours are so delicious that you would drink one knowing it was going to make you ill?

Because I need to try one if that's the case...

Yes. Sublime.

Seriously though, its a difficult hypothetical. If I knew I was going to get sick, maybe I'd back off. If, however, there was only a strong possibility of getting sick, then I'd go balls in.

Ok. That is still a hearty endorsement. Is this a beverage I can't really get in the states in a quality form? It's not one of those The Guinness tastes way better in Ireland sort of deals, is it?

I've seen pisco sold in some specialty liquor stores, but not at any grocery stores. I've not tried it here, but its liquor, so I doubt it would have the same transportation issues beer does.

That said, I can't say why I haven't bought it here. You know how there's something about place that adds to experience. I think that's it. I don't want to ruin the memory if, in fact, the taste isn't as good as I remember (if that makes any sense).

Yeah, that's a pretty good summary of how I felt about Lima. If you ever do head to Cusco, let me know. I would be glad to recommend a small boutique hotel that we stayed in. Every morning we would wake up, go down to the common area and have some coco leaf tea. It was good stuff. I'm pretty sure scrimetime drank 4-5 glasses each sitting. It'll wake you up.

I had one of my favorite ever moments while in Peru, it was amazing: http://hubski.com/pub?id=1779
