I'll give you two:

Ash wants to publish something. I want to build my own home - or at least improve an existing one to be self-sustaining.

You've just reminded me that I've always wanted to hire an architect and design my own home from the ground up.

I've always had a vision of a forested lot with a structure inspired by the mid-century modern movement. A nice ranch with massive planes of glass for a facade.

Hmm...

I visited this site every day when we were shopping for homes: http://trianglemodernisthouses.com/

I absolutely LOVE mid-century modern homes. We tried to land one, which means I called the owner to ask how much.... it was $750k. -Yeah... not quite in my range. Someday though.

Oh HELL yeah! Nice link.

There is a beautiful one my girlfriend and I drive past every once in a while. It is tres $$$

Lol, every house pictured on that site fits my description to a 't'. Wooded lot and all.

Is Ash published yet? Is she working towards that end? I hope so, I've not read any of her work but I would be surprised if it wasn't brilliant.

Those are both big ones but as someone that knows you both, I'd say they are quite realistic and attainable.

We've done so much already. Of course we want to travel more, but actually doing these things would fulfill our lives more than traveling to places just to witness what others have already done.

more than traveling to places just to witness what others have already done. -I hear that. The reason the Peru trip was so fulfilling was the 4 day hike through the Inca trail. I felt like I was doing something while witnessing some wonderful human and natural achievement. Such a cool experiment.

I look forward to reading her work and staying in your ecologically friendly home.

You're welcome anytime in our home, or bunker: http://hubski.com/pub?id=19331

Ash was quite jealous when you two went to Peru. If we ever get the opportunity, I'm sure she'll be calling on you as tour guides.
