From my limited experience, I found JFK to be the worst (they really don't have good wayfinding). I'm a bit surprised Calgary is up so high.

JFK is awful. LAX is a bus terminal with planes. Kinda makes you wanna fly into Vancouver, don't it?

Yeah, JFK has been burned into my mind as the worst. Detroit's DTW is really pleasant, however I've never had to make a connecting flight.

I hate searching for my gate only to realize I need to find a tram first. I'd rather a long walk.

There are a ton of indirect flights available when you want to go from the West Coast to Europe, and most of them go through O'Hare, JFK, Dulles or Newark. I'm so glad I don't have a transfer on my way back. Friend of mine will go Calgary > Las Vegas > JFK > Saint John just to save some bucks, the poor soul.
