As an aside: When I was in college, I wrote a song in the style of late FNM called Motherfucker (the UPS song) ...it did not sound like this.
So I take it you would not like to hear me sing Motherfucker (the UPS song). :)
Would that I could my friend. The original recording was stolen by a thief when they stole my laptop 15 years ago. And I don't really talk to the guy that wrote the music for it, nor do I play any instruments. One day I should get a mic and try to produce a rough facsimile. Also it was a terrible song written by a 19 year old who lacks any semblance of talent (me!). The guy who did the music was pretty talented though. I should look him up. See if he ever released anything.
I dug the song and I'm not a big fan of overt cursing in music. If you're going to do it, do it. Seems to be a song about the ails and evils of the world and wanting to get whomever "created" it "on the phone." It's a song about accountability. At least that was my take.
I dunno - I struggle to call it a "song". It has some beats, some rhythmic recitation of sentiments - but it seems to lack melody, harmony, or any significant instrumentation.. but then again - I quit listening after I think 2 minutes or so - maybe they cut loose with some actual music at some point. I'm not even intending to be prudish about the language. It's fine when use to drive home a point - it just seems a little…. numbing I guess.
The melody for this song has been in my head all day. It certInly has instrumentation, those drums are awesome, cool bass and guitar. It is most certainly a song.
I stand corrected. There is, indeed a melody for two short bursts in there, and even instrumentation. I've never been a fan of their stuff - I shouldn't be surprised that I don't love it. I think I clicked on this hoping that trying something new, I would find something new, something I would like. Bummed that I didn't.
