An awesome banjo player, known for pushing the boundaries of the instrument. Just thought I'd share because this has been stuck in my head for a while now, and wanted to know if anyone else likes/ knows him.
Oh cool! The only thing up until recently that I'd seen of his was his journey through Africa to find where and what the banjo originated from, just had to google it then and it's called 'Throw down your heart', really really awesome documentary, and he plays with so many people too - here's a youtube link to one: this is the trailer for the tour:
Yeah that's a pretty awesome movie. Bela is mostly known as a jazz musician, which you might not pick up on from that movie, or the other video you posted. If you're into his style, definitely check out some of the flecktones' music. Live Art is a good place to start, as it also has some great work by his bass player, victor wooten, who is also crazy awesome.
