This is the only link that I know of that has this film available. Check it out at your local library if you don't want to pay half a pound - this one is a freebie, if you will.

Thank you for sharing!
EDIT:
What I love is that there was no diminishing of the role of women in the movement.
It's also available on archive.org, if anyone wants to download it here (this one's in english) or to watch after this link expires, the dafilms version is higher quality.
Also found this from the film "Huey" by the same director. More on the Black Panther party during the same period, in B&W.
Thanks for the link beezneez!
If anyone is interested in sharing another film from here that isn't free, I'd gladly pay for it so we can all share!
EDIT!: so apparently the first link I posted from archive.org is in french, but I found a rogue copy of the original film in English!
I uploaded to mediafire cause I don't really want to use my google drive, if anyone thinks I should upload it elsewhere (I'm planning on submitting it to archive), just let me know!

Watching it now. Of course the parallels with Ferguson are irresistible, but this seems much more organized. One thing I found surprising was how similar the gun-friendly rhetoric seemed to that of the NRA et al. (only a good guy w/ a gun stops a bad guy w/ a gun). And Newton's remarks about blacks as political prisoners are depressingly relevant to the war on drugs.
It's also kinda hard to hear what people are saying at some points :/
Good job iammyownrushmore do you have an english version or subtitles for the archive.org link? I want to share this but most of my friends do not speak french
Ah, crap, I didn't watch until the narration came in. I can't find another copy or subtitles. I have some time today, so I'll see if I can make some subtitles.
edit: Okay, so I started making subtitles, thinking that only the narration was in French, not realizing all the interviews had been overdubbed as well...
I'm gonna just try and find a better copy.
Thanks for tagging me in this, I really want to learn more about the black panthers. If someone has books or suggestions about black movements specifically in the Detroit I would appreciate hearing about them.
I know there are a couple of books on Amazon, but I'm specifically looking for recommendations.
While controversial, and not about the Black Panthers Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention is an accessible read about fringe movements of the time, with some excellent background.
