Can I recommend you a book? Oryx and Crake. I just finished the sequel, and I have to say, _Atwood gets it_. She gets genetic engineering and she gets hippiedom. I've been meaning to write up a comparison with the sprawl trilogy, since the two are very different takes on dystopian future worlds ruled by corporations.

Atwood gets a lot of things - She's a damned smart lady. I enjoy listening to her interviews with Jian Ghomeshi on Q because it's like watching a cat play with its food. Not everyone likes her, some people think she's incredibly overrated (and in Canada, they're probably not wrong), but I enjoy her ultra-dry sense of humour and her intelligence, as well as the way she writes.

Have a read (or listen) to her Massey Lectures from 2008. It's called "Payback: Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth". It's one of my favourite books I own

kleinbl00 you might like it as well. Or hate it. Frankly, I have no idea.

I'd had zero exposure to her up until the link above and, recently, its sequel. I'll add it to the queue...

well, if you like that trilogy, take a look in her back catalogue. Handmaid's Tale and many others have won awards.

Already have them as audiobooks, downloaded for my wife. I'll get to them eventually.
