I'm a tad impressed with some songs on my initial listen. I especially enjoy Ruth and Clay Pigeons.
He probably didn't know how to tell people he had an album. I'm sure he was at some really fancy club for famous people (completely by accident of course) and jay-z or someone asked him what he's been up to. And he probably just said "I've been messing around with my guitar..."
This is actually good stuff! Not just a bunch of cliche bullshit. I'm impressed. Edit: After having listened to the whole thing, I can say that this is something that would have impressed me no matter who made it. Really good songs, and he did a lot of cool stuff production wise.
I've been seeing this everywhere. Michael Cera is my crush.
