Two of my favs made it. Big Lebowski and Spinal Tap. I'm surprised there's no Kurosawa on the list. He, as a filmmaker, has a giant cult following. I would put Yojimbo as my number 1. Its the movie that Fistful of Dollars was a remake of. And speaking of which, no Sergio Leone anywhere?!?!

Big Leboski is definitely one of my favorites. I quote it often and have taken to using the Theodor Herzle quote as a personal mantra: "If you will it, there is no dream". There were some movies on there I definitely didn't expect to see, most notably The Gods Must Be Crazy. -I watched that movie a lot when I was a kid.

It seems like almost everyone I know loves The Dude except me. To me, it was an okay movie.

I just watched the movie last night for the first time and the friend who showed it to me said that it got better each time she watched it. She thought it was an okay movie at first but now she absolutely adores it. I was mostly glad to have seen the genesis of so many memes - such as "Goodnight, sweet prince" and "Well that's, like, your, uh, opinion man".

A good movie, like a good album should grow on you. The ones that are immediately satisfying likely gave you all they had in their first viewing.
