Ah, Market Basket. Yes, I support the picketers but I am now forced to get groceries elsewhere. On the plus side, I heard on the radio that sales at farmer's markets are up.
Also, this chain has something of an unrelated fan page
I drove past their headquarters everyday to get to work, wish I was still around to see all this happening in real time. I shopped at MB all the time, it was really interesting the first time though. As somebody who is used to Wegman's, the first step into MB is a blast right back to the 90s. It's nice to know that on top of having very low prices they actually care about their employees (or at least, did). I hope this ends up well for the employees and customers, but I could see it just getting sold off by people who want to make as much money as possible. Didn't see this in the article, but some of their managers and assistant managers have threatened to quit if Artie T. isn't reinstated.
Well . . . I first stepped into one in the late '80's and got the sense that it had been like that way before I ever went to one. It's a weird artifact of New England for sure. Much as I hope it does turn out well, I have the feeling that it won't.the first step into MB is a blast right back to the 90s.
