A camera can't capture that which does not exist. Nor can a video. Editing is hard to do, takes ages, and fades with time. Writing is ageless, writing has impact, and writing can create worlds far larger, more diverse, and more influential than what any other medium can create (aside maybe user-driven video games).
That I think is the thing I like with writing. While write certainly requires talent anyone can show anything with it. Only imaginations sets limits and you can put something on paper exactly the way you envisioned it.
And writing may require talent, but anyone can do it nonetheless, and not get discouraged unless they post online. In my experience, people are REALLY constructive on writing areas too, always happy to give advice and be constructive. I wish there was a fan-fiction like site for people just writing random stuff not based on fan fiction (but maybe some of fan-fiction mixed in)
Fictionpress? That's like fanfiction.net but for original stories, I guess wattpad is kind of like that too.
