Last Friday at about 1pm, in a small town you've never heard of, a five year old boy named Giacomo crashed his bike into the rear wheels of a moving garbage truck. He was killed instantly.
A few hours later at the small-town little league game, this deceased boy's friend stepped up to bat. It was the bottom of the sixth, down by one run, two runners on base.
This young batter says "I'm gonna hit a home run for Giacomo."
And that's exactly what he did.
I saw this on your Facebook and it really hit me in the feels. How. What. Why. It also made me rethink my reply to the The preventable, inevitable death thread. Keep your head up, Steve and take note of the small moments that bring you joy. We often have a way of taking life for granted when we really, truly shouldn't. If there is anything I can do, let me know. Otherwise, I'll keep sending my happy, sunny beach vibes your way. Much, much love.
this post broke my heart and then this exchange warmed it. Best wishes to you steve and everyone, let's keep focused on the "little lights" in even the worst of craptastrophes.
