I agree with both of you. I used #etomology for the #tagoftheweek. _refugee_, is there good poetry about insects?

I have done some minor looking and not found anything inspiring, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The problem with insect poetry is I suspect much of it would be about a single insect as opposed to insects in general, so my usual search methods are very limited. I suspect I would find many results if I began searching for specific bugs such as cockroaches - I am proving my theory right; Sexton is quite well-regarded classically and was my first result but far from my only - or stickbugs - okay I'm cheating here I already knew about this poem - here's another cockroach poem that appears to have generated quite a bit of discussion.

I shall have to blog about this. I've been a bit stymied on the blog as of late because I wrote a very opinionated piece (perhaps too opinionated) and asked for feedback from friends: one gave me feedback that was accurate, but the phrasing ruffled my feathers in such a way as to slightly tie my hands because I am obstinate, and the other promised to give me feedback if he felt I needed it and then didn't. As a result I put the piece on ice. So then I drafted a post about light-hearted food poems but in comparison to my opinion piece it has felt far too lightweight and insubstantial. Insects are a good diversion from Ogden Nash. I shall try to get it up this weekend maybe on Saturday so I can still participate in your #tagoftheweek.
