Yes, it's exactly how it is. Wide streets and massive Soviet buildings. Minsk is lacking small streets with little coffee shops and cute boutiques that make al the charm of Europe. I'm probably missing out on a lot since I don't know anybody my age here, but so far the city has been quite cold and impersonal. (The gray weather probably isn't helping either). I would place Minsk in the "interesting" category in my mind because it really feels i've been transported to late Soviet era. I'm definitely enjoying my time here :)
