This is gorgeous, and I had no idea it existed. I would love to go.
Many of the tools look harsh and almost violent, which fits my perception of what the time they were from must have been like. Beautiful images, thanks for posting. You ever been?
Most tools are still violent. Carpentry, farming, done today with pointy things. Even pointier perhaps. That barrel with the nails sticking out looks kind of like a cotton gin - one of the greatest american inventions. I always loved how simple that machine is while also revolutionizing industrial farming. And hornsmithing? Freakin' cool! My grandmother has a domino set made from bone that I always liked. I wonder why bonesmith isn't a word? It's cool that he cast that building as well. I would love to see some photos of the old formwork during the pour. I have never been here. Next time I go to New York, I hope to stop by.
What I like so much about this is that it shows everyday objects from that time in two different lights. Not only does it allow you to see them for what they were (possibly harsh and violent), but it also puts them together in a way that created something amazing and glorified an entire era.
