Was just reading this blog by Elana Filatova, a writer that insomniasexx recently posted this piece titled, Ghost Town Cheryobyl from. She says she is shutting down her blog to only focus on the situation in her home Ukraine and has some interesting insights. Worth checking out.
You all know I am not one to promote reddit, but a Ukrainian citizen posted about the anti-protest legislation on r/self yesterday. It provides an interesting background to the riots. Also, he gets into an interesting argument with another Ukrainian who actually favours the new laws.
By the way, there is a livestream of the Dynamo stadium if anybody's interested:
yep that's the stadium https://maps.google.com/maps?q=maidan,+kiev&ll=50.450427... is that the same car???
i added a link to an article with details in the main post. the article references maidan square and a couple pictures in the article look like that location, but i haven't managed to find that particular building yet. the article repeatedly refers to a police cordon around "government buildings"
Yep. Initially seems like an odd place for violence to break out, but then again it doesn't. Wouldn't be surprised if those are the instigators. You can see the trademark pyrotechnics as well.
