- Pop culture, even "low-brow" entertainment, paves the way for appreciating the classics, and it'll help my kids connect with people who aren't just like them.
-Aside: I'm in Michigan at my parents house. They have a 3400 sq foot home but spend nearly every moment in their living room in front of their TV. They eat their meals up there and even when they're not in that room, the television remains on. Oh, also their TV is enormous. -The other rooms in the house gather dust.
They've been watching my daughter for a week while my wife and I try and sell/buy a home. They do a great job watching her but she see's a LOT more television and gets used to eating in front of a TV. I really don't appreciate this.
This morning I made her waffles and yogurt for breakfast and she kept insisting that it's okay to watch it upstairs in front of the TV.
"No, it's not okay. That's not how people should live." was my response, said passive aggressively loud enough for my mother to hear.
-Should be an interesting holiday.
