- Electronic cigarettes are sparking lots of skepticism from public health types worried they may be a gateway to regular smoking.
But the cigarettes, which use water vapor to deliver nicotine into the lungs, may be as good as the patch when it comes to stop-smoking aids, a study finds.
Smokers who used e-cigarettes in an attempt to quit the old-fashioned kind of cigarettes did about as well at stopping smoking as the people who tried the patch.
I tried the patch. It failed. I tried the ecig and, it took a bit, but I'm off traditional cigarettes 100%. It's the oral fixation. It's the habit. The patch doesn't give you that. For most smokers the nicotine is a part of it, but the experience and habits are what makes it so hard to quit.
I agree. What's weird is that friends who are used to seeing me smoke have been offering to buy me packs when I hang out with them. It's like they're addicted to me smoking too. I tried the patch too. I didn't like it because of the lack of oral fixation and also because I'd forget that I had it on. On the plus side, crazy dreams.
