I'm seeing a house tomorrow. I think it's time to move from my condo to my own four walls. The market is nuts but that'll make selling my condo easier. I don't want to deal with trying to rent it out. My association has limits on that. Not prohibitions but limits, and I just don't think I'd be good at it.
So it's really cute. It was built in 1950 but looks like it's been updated well. Bedrooms are small but the living/dining rooms feel very open for the size. Kitchen is small, too, but opens into the dining area and doesn't feel cramped. Decent unfinished basement. The garage isn't great but not enough of a reason to turn it down. Backyard is large for the price.
I hopped jobs, traded in an ol’ clunker for a 2022, and am leaning towards moving in with the S/O by the end of June. Decision to move jobs was influenced by the decision to co-habitate. Last joint was data heavy (remoting into multiple live feeds, up/downloads of GBs) and the cut-off for good internet is a 5 min drive closer to the city from the S/O’s nice, quiet spot. The change in lifestyle from remote to in-person work is not welcome. More to the point, not a day goes by I wonder if I was ready to change jobs. The work and workflow was as engaging as I liked it to be. Plus, I was valued in a smaller pond that happen to attract much, much bigger clientele. Pay could have been better, but the lifestyle change was what I was after. Jury’s out on the latter (or at least, doing a bad job convincing myself of that). Regardless, I settled for a lateral move pay-wise with the interview-stage promise of development. Not the smartest decision of late. The new whip’s safety features are nice, though.
Getting headhunted by Amazon for a really interesting position. People like me don't get headhunted. It's probably been two decades since anyone tried to headhunt me. Should be an interesting experience, anyway. It's not in dev, so it's not 100-hour weeks. And it pays extremely well and comes with stock... so maybe I take it and retire in 3-5 years? Who knows? The road ahead is twisting and winding and unpredictable.
Had an epic birthday party for my boyfriend last weekend at the country house. A highlight was the fried whole turkey, with a heavy duty chain running through it that we ended up suspending in the sauna. My shibari friends were pleased, it looked absolutely ridiculous.
Alas my original plan to take multiple edibles throughout the day got thwarted by life and errands. And also a totally avoidable long planned meeting that I just plain forgot about until last minute. So the festivities, for myself, are delayed for a few more hours. I hope everyone who went out, had fun and stayed safe. I've got some private smoke session digital calls planned and then I'm going to take a bath the most stoned I've ever been. Cheers and Love everyone!
