I fucking hate Youtube so much.

My roommate is spending his 3-day weekend watching Youtube videos discussing what characters might or might not be in the new Smash Bros and whether they might or might not suck. Literally sunrise to well past sunset, watching bored idiots drone on about what they think of Bayonetta over the same fucking tired clips of someone else playing video games.

I guess the money from that comes from Youtube Premium. I guess that's what $12 a month is for. And I guess that's a victimless crime. But my god. It's worse than the Kick Me In The Balls Channel.

90% of all creative content is shit. Of the 10% left about half of that is worth wasting the time to interact with. Been a rule forever. The issue with Youtube is that the raw amount of garbage created is such that the diamonds are harder and harder to find. Now with Youtube focusing on the promotion of content for teens, people in our demographic are screwed and leaving.

I watch videos on the 2-4 games I still play more on the advanced theorycrafting and a few space and science people. I've gone from 100+ channels subbed to (right now) 31. And five of those have not updated in two years.

Well, 90/10 is a degeneration of the Pareto principle which puts it at 80/20. But then, Youtube kinda blows that all away in that it used to take two or three people just to show your Super 8 movies to your family and now your dumb-ass Periscopes are visible to the entire world with the press of a button.

The problem, as I see it, is that droning in front of the computer with a bunch of stolen clips for days at a time will be monetized per play by Youtube whereas writing a blog will not. So you've got people who will drone in front of stolen content for money because Google's business model is fucking terrible.

I have six channels. One of them is elizabeth. One of them is effectively CNN. And one of them is literally a webcam.

I find that the only really worthwhile parts of YouTube are (some of) the music videos and the live performances.

Also Drugslab.

Used to be a fan of Drugslab. But they are misinformed.

I like the fact that they are financed by the government and are doing harm reduction but part of the information they provide are not well researched and could even make more harm than good.

For example?
