Done! I'll go so far as to state I have never even mentioned 'that place' on this site :). I haven't gone through my comments, but I believe this is the first time I've even directed a comment towards 'that place'. Seriously, I think you're right. I know we are a species that builds our knowledge upon analogous experiences, but there's something to be said about people who are stuck in the past. I for one am trying to treat this site as a new experience, with it's own nuances, and new rules.
Oh sorry. Video instructor led trainings.
Yeah, man. I love Codecademy. If you wanna try out VILT I'd suggest Udacity.com or KahnAcademy.org (some people prefer that format). For straight C look towards computerscienceforeveryone.com. Actually computerscienceforeveryone also has awesome low level basics about binary, ram, pointers, and memory management. Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense. I'll blame it on 1) it being early, 2) typing on iPhone, and 3) likely autocorrected hilariously. Edits: for clarity?
This sort of system would also encourage "bug" and "request" type items, etc. Just a more streamlined approach in total.
I've read and tried tons of languages, way too many to go over. I'm only a hobbyist, but I'd love to make it professional. I mostly know Objective-C, Javascript, and Ruby. I use the word "know" loosely in that I've read a few books on each and can make rudimentary apps, at best. My excuse is that I don't have time, which is a lame one I realize. What with my normal job and normal life, it's difficult to make time (as there is plenty of time, but I spend it on other things).
I'll jump in and say that Codecademy is great. They have a Python track. It's free and interactive.
I'm partial to Hubster or Skier.
I don't use Chrome, but this looks like a good place to start. It shows you the "automatic" and "manual" installation of userscripts.
Damn. I wanted to see what the flaw was! I didn't see any more videos on their sub page, this was the most recently uploaded one. Anyone know where the next video is?
It happened on my drive home from work. Phew.
Love it. This was one of my major complaints.
Not sure if I'll use this or not, it's a bit awkward after getting used to Hubski's normal layout. Another Safari tip (since it doesn't work directly): 1) Download Stylish for Safari. On the GitHub page, click 'stylish.safariextz' to download extension. Install that.
2) Download style from UserStyles as posted above. You can't install directly, so click 'Show code'. Copy all code here. Click on your new Stylish button on the Safari toolbar. In the new page, go to 'Edit' tab. Give this new Style a name and copy the code in CSS. For 'Applies to' enter 'hubski.com'. *edit: lots for clarity.
I love this and if it's a start to an HES type experiment, I'd be eternally grateful. I also came to say that if your on Safari, install NinjaKit. It allows for userscripts.
