You can see what we currently have here: http://hubski.com/markup
I know there has been a lot more poetry and writing and short stories and all sorts of fun stuff on Hubski lately and I am starting to feel like some new markup would be infinitely valuable to people.
However, I rarely write-write with formatting so you are all better judges than me on what would work and be valuable and what wouldn't.
So... if you could add markup functionality, what would you want?
Also, do you use another online site for writing? Does their functionality work better? Worse?
I think hubski pretty much duplicates most of the well-used features of the other site's markup/down. The image embedding is a nice extra, too. The only thing I would like for hubski is some way to do tables, but that's something the other site doesn't do elegantly either.
Do you think we'd have a plethora of rainbow posts, crazy formatting, and less of the clean feel Hubski now has if people had full HTML or WYSIWYG style controls?
Version 1
I want to be able to make stanza breaks between lines of poetry.
Right now if I leave two blank lines, one gets sucked up. Like this. Now I'm typing this
Like a poem
So that where you see a capital
It is at the margin. I'm typing this with a stanza break here. Right now the only way I can
Start every new line at the margin
Is by putting two spaces before each line But then the font changes.
Here's what the above looked like when I first typed it, minus the indent and the font change. Version 2

Bullet and numbered lists - markdown's syntax is quite nice.
I come here to find thoughtful, informative articles that I wouldn't find on my own. I use tumblr, deviantart, and writer's digest for writing promps and artwork. I think the biggest problem I have with this site is the same one I have with tumblr. It's hard to keep up with specific content when general tags have the most traffic. On tumblr, each of the people I follow either have a nonsensical tagging system or rarely add any at all. Looking at the wall of tags here is really intimidating. I still have no idea what half of them are! A randomizing article/tag button could help jostle it up. My main focus on this site is figuring out the tagging system since the commenting feature was pretty easy to figure out.
I guess what I'm now wondering is... Are people frustrated and want more control over quotes and italics and colors and size and indentation? Or do people simply want more to have more? Do people really want full control over their posts? What will be lost if we can change colors and fonts and everything? Right now the features are incredibly limited but it gives the comment section really clean look. If I can write in colors, would I use it? Would people use it? If I could indent properly, would I use it? Would people use it. Etc. I don't know.
We can really narrow it down if you keep asking questions like that; I have only really ever used color in my main post, orange on white can look pretty crisp some times and be easier on the eyes. But that was awhile ago, so what do you suggest Insomnia?
