Lots of new music this week
Kevorkian Death Cycle - LightFields. They are doing a new album. If this is representative, there are not enough exclamation points in the world.
Kirlian Camera - Black August. It's off Black Summer Choirs, which has been out for a while, but the video is new and I like this mix much more than the one on the album.
Velfaerd - Udmattelse sounds like the beach during a hurricane.
RMSS Systems Inc. - Horrormate Themes, ambient album with a classic horror movie theme
Bleak Existence - Crowding. Not-all-that-harsh HNW. SNW?
Also Zev Asher died this week. Not much of his music floating around the tubes, but here's an old Nimrod live set:
I listen to all kinds of music, but I like to provide a little hip-hop in these threads whenever I can, because it is always extremely lacking here on Hubski. I feel like Hubski could be more based. Even if you don't like hip-hop, well here it is. So my first pick, is non other than the self proclaimed "Based God" himself. Lil B. Surrender to Me - Lil B http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7W0QWXfYu0 I'm God - Lil B http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pyops3UGr4 Inspired by this article from Vice about listening to Based God for 50 hours straight. Read it, it's hilarious. This dude is a worker. I don't like most of his music but he has some gems... but he has like 50+ mixtapes and releases a new one like bi-weekly. One, called the MySpace collections, is like 850 songs. The article is a good read. Quote: "7:14: Total mental and emotional surrender to Basedgod. It feels sort of nice." So I urge you, as well, fellow Hubskinaut, to surrender to the Basedgod. Embark now on a journey to become more based. http://www.vice.com/read/fifty-hour-lil-b-marathon Also, Big Sean, who I love, is dropping another album this month. He released a new track to it last week, called Fire. So far they have released two tracks from the album. Really excited for it, he's like Kanye 2.0, and oddly enough that's who signed him. Fire - Big Sean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=560v12-5yoQ Beware - Big Sean (previously released track from the same upcoming album) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERP-D3Etq_Q Also, one of my more recent favorite artists, Childish Gambino, AKA Donald Glover the actor and comedian. He also happens to be a damn fine rapper. Been sleeping on him for awhile but finally dove in and went through all of his stuff, and it's all great. So here are a couple of my favs... Heart Beat - Childish Gambino http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6dCufvUCxA New Prince - Childish Gambino http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wKr8OJui6k In related music news I saw Vampire Weekend last week, and it was "meh" as far as concerts go.
Just like my man AlderaanDuran, I'm a huge proponent of Lil B music. This week, he released two singles from his upcoming mixtape, 05 Fuck Em. Lil B--05 Fuck Em Lil B--BGYCFMB Based God can fuck my bitch and drive my Honda.
Lapalux - Quartz All their stuff is super chilled out and peaceful. It's great studying music (for me anyway, to each their own).
Fragile -by- Tech N9ne feat. Kendrick Lamar one of the best rap songs I've heard this year so far -- a slow beat, fast lyriced, thought-filled, thought-provoking song
