Discussion from a couple of months ago. There's a small DIY community on reddit. I guess it's not likely to kill you immediately, since more than a few people are doing it (but see the subreddit's sidebar). I wouldn't do it, at least until one of these devices made it past the FDA though.

Would it really fall under the FDA's jurisdiction though? I want to try this, but I assume it's sort of like those old-timey exercise machines that jiggle a person around.

Medical devices do, and it seems like it should count as a medical device, even if their FAQ claims it isn't one. That's way beyond my expertise though.
