Yeah, the music here is great. As a musician it's a dream, as well. Ah, cool! What year/degree?
Oh I can imagine. He's in his second year for Physics, he's only there for 6 months. Actually spent a week working with a New Zealand ex-pat last month too, also originally from Auckland.
Ah, awesome! If you like Opossum and UMO, I'd highly recommend checking out the New Zealand tag on bandcamp, there's a bunch great stuff there. Also worth checking out are Ladi6, Six60, The Bads, Trick Mammoth. Kody Nielson, of Opossum, is also really well known for his other big band, The Mint Chicks. They were absolutely fantastic.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll have to see if there's a New Zealand station on Pandora at work tomorrow. Never heard of his other band before, but if it's anything like Opossum then that's exciting.
No worries! The radio station I work at streams across the internet, if you're interested: 95bfm.com. Yeah, I actually haven't listened to Opossum much, but I have every Mint Chicks album. Love them.
As does the one that I work at! http://www.witr.rit.edu/ I've been listening to your station and have been liking the content so far, it's the Frank Turner session. It's got a twinkle feel to it. Will definitely have to listen (and check out the session videos) more when I'm not as tired.
Just checked out your station (unfortunately can't really stream at home due to my incredibly disappointing connection) and it looks fantastic! Pretty similar to b in its conception, I'd imagine.
Ah, nice! I admittedly don't listen to the radio much at all, but when I do, bfm is my goto. Always something half-decent at the very least.
I'm really liking that station. You said you produce a show there? Do you do any DJ'ing or other work too?
Yeah, I produce Freak the Sheep on Wednesday nights. I'm applying for a dj spot too, but it'll almost definitely be a graveyard shift at first. I do organise the occasional gig or two outside of bfm, though.
