According to this theory we love whom we love not so much because of the future we hope to build but because of the past we hope to reclaim -There is a lot of truth in this. We see it all the time with girls dating much older men to reclaim the love they missed out on from an absent father. So perhaps sometimes it's not just reclaiming a past that occurred but trying to construct the past as you would have liked it to occur?

Right, but I took this as love is primarily about trying to achieve some goal. So, in that context, love is less of a feeling and more of an impetus by the brain to do something that leads to other "real" feelings.
