Is the Affordable Care Act coming apart at the seems before it even takes effect?
It seems to me that this chimera of a government/private insurance is going to lead to all sorts of insanity. The government will keep trying to get the insurers to play nice, and the insurers will keep finding new ways to thwart the government's efforts. My biggest complaint about The Affordable Healthcare Act is that there is no public option. IMO the Act needn't even exist if a reasonable public option were constructed. Private insurers could be the FedEx and UPS of healthcare, and the USPS could provide a basic level of care. With no profit motive, the public option would keep a check on private rates. Perhaps this will precipitate the creation of a public option.
