i was strung along for over 3 years as a teenager by a series of hack therapists who either were uninformed or whose active goal was to prevent me from accessing healthcare. i was only able to be seen by a provider after turning 18 and badgering another clueless therapist into writing a letter of support. even as an adult, every new step in medical transition has meant a multi-month period of jumping through hoops. going to doctors for unrelated problems is a roulette wheel - i need to repeatedly and preemptively out myself as trans to make sure that the paperwork gets filled out and that the doctor doesn't get surprised by my medications, or my body
