Final week of the three week grand tour. It's been terrific. I am tired. Heading to Netherlands for the final leg tomorrow. Important piece of intel it might've helped to know before I booked the trip. The University of Warwick is not actually in Warwick (nor even in the same county).
Missed out on two jobs. One they said of 55 applicants, it was between me and another person. The other person had a degree in IT, so they went with them, but they gave me excellent feedback and are currently looking for secondment opportunities for me. They said "We don't doubt you can do the job, it's just impossible to ignore the very real degree this person had, over your soft skills and potential to learn it all". The other company they simply said they went with a more junior applicant because they thought "I'd get bored". I know the second one is much more 'wishy-washy' in response as I answered their questions about why I wanted to change, but I enjoyed the interview process, and got good feedback overall. It's certainly not all doom and gloom, my job is relatively safe and I'll be earning more come July - was just hoping to step into something I care about. I'll get there, just a little later on :)
in days of old the men would work the fields to earn their way; the maidens met inside the church on Sunday holidays. now maidens make the money for the men, who never pay; "well sure I'm unemployed," he says, "at least i still get laid"
