When you go looking for defenses of Christianity in the contemporary era all you find are Republican party talking points. There is no separating the two. American Evagelicalism has polluted the international theological debate by exporting its bigotry throughout Southeast Asia, Central and South America and of course Africa. American-style mega churches have been catching on in Australia because it's an easy place for American missionaries to go and 'evangelize' without having to be around scary brown people.
