Functionally, John Oliver takes Frontline documentaries, adds wisecracks and hunts for a happy ending. That's pretty much his entire schtick. I know this because I indulge in Frontline episodes in ways that even true masochists have a hard time with. So I've learned not to recommend them that often. Most people have to turn away from the void from time to time. But even with that preamble, their most recent two on the NRA are worth everyone's time.
