Andy Ruiz has the physique of a marshmallow.
He took the fight on four weeks notice.
Anthony Joshua was favored 25 to 1.
Ruiz now holds 3 of 4 heavy weight belts.
Andy did a great job of controlling distance the whole fight, he had good head movement and showed fast hands with a good chin. He had too many big looping shots (in true heavy weight style) but he showed that he could shoot straight when it mattered.
I think most people are going to give Andy's win to Joshua's faults but despite some glaring flaws, he seems to be a pretty smart boxer with speed and power. For as tubby as he was coming in on four weeks notice he never seemed to be gassed.
A Mexican heavyweight champ could be huge for the sport. I rooted for Chris Arreola for years but he never could grab a belt. If Ruiz can beat Wilder or Fury boxing is going to see a little renaissance in the U.S. This could be the best thing to happen to boxing in decades.
