Fun times here in Freiburg.
A panel fell from our library's facade and landed at a student's feet. It's unclear what exactly caused it, but the suspicion is that it was literally just too hot for the adhesive. Now the area around the library is blocked off, and our only way in is through the bike storage in the basement (entry a block over from the normal doors). Monday evening, security had to lead a student in a wheelchair through the main entrance. He wore a construction helmet.
The 3-year-old library also made headlines for its stupidity a few times before: the glass facade blinds drivers, so on bright days staff now pulls blinds down over the entire building; the "handicap-accessible" side door was built in a slanted wall, and quickly stopped opening; and once uni staff had to break out the buckets, because it started to rain through the facade.
