Dontcha think imaginary property is a little over dramatic? If I make something that could cost me hundreds or thousands of hours of my time I fuxking own it and ease of digital distribution shouldn't belittle the work I did. Corporations who claim ownership of something that was created by a team under work for hire or some other shady contractual agreement is one thing but the "information deserves to be free" mantra devalues the work of small scale writers, artists and musicians. And unless you're starry eyed about the gig economy or self-publishing it's demotivational to even try if the attitude applied to Disney extends to every person making something that can be downloaded.

This doesn't lead to an egalitarian creative Renaissance. It leads to a bunch of half assed YouTube video essays and 50 Shades of Gray.
