Good article, but what else can we say about vaccines that hasn't already been said? Here's and interesting end to the piece:
...it’s free to access, the way all scientific literature should be.
I tend to agree. The mainstream journal format should be abandoned in favor of open access. The argument from the journals is that they are expensive to produce, and that may be true. But here's a factoid that I think most people outside of science are not aware of: every time we publish an article we are charged by the journal anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the journal, how many pages, figures, etc. This kind of money is more than enough to support websites with open access. I think the new format by journals such as the PLoS (Public Library of Science) journals are the way the future ought to be. Why should the government pay for research that you and I can't easily access?
Well, thought it was an interesting counter to people pointing out the weird chemicals found in vaccines. I've never known why formaldehyde/diphtheria toxin were contained in them, I'd just assumed they were present in low enough dosage to not have significant negative effects.
