I'll have to see if I can find a source, but I was listening to NPR this afternoon and one of their reporters called to ask the EPA's representitive they admitted to this.

Yes, I apologize, the news about the EPA is not in question. The story I linked to concerns the NIH, and I've added more context to the original comment. Mah bad.

My (previous) boss mentioned this to me today. He seemed concerned by some of the rumors that are going around, perhaps a wide-ranging cut.

Well, on a personal level, yes. But even if I can successfully transition, I don't believe for a moment that it reveals any kind of greater truth. We need well-funded basic science that is not motivated by economic factors.

People that understand how science can expand our humanity understand this. We are creatures of wonder, and forthrightly nourishing that curiosity creates more opportunity than any centrally-planned program can ever hope to.

Primary education is very similar.
