It took my reading all the way to the end to realize it was a public letter. The whole way through I kept thinking that this wasn't a letter you'd send to a good friend. They'd know all that stuff. You'd say more personal things that only the two of you knew. This letter addresses the audience more than a friend. I guess I should have known that if the letter is from 1994 and Lennon died in 1980.

Friendship. Family. Both have tremendous ups and downs. At least, the good ones do. When you care for someone deeply, you're bound to have strife. Those two definitely did.
