I saw the 2014 Godzilla in the theater while slightly drunk, and had a good time. I agree that it was far from flawless (and I actually felt kind of let down compared to how epic the teaser was), but again, a good time. I'm cautiously excited about the new(est) one, but haven't gotten around to seeing it yet either.
At least it was much, much better than TriStar's Godzilla. There are only two good things that came out of that. One, was a cartoon series that was actually very good (and featured real monsters for villians), and the second was seeing Godzilla 2000 in theaters and feeling like it was the most amazing thing ever. It was a great movie to kick off The Millenium Era, which by the way isn't aging all that well, but I think that gives it some of its charm.
