incidently - I heard a small-town cowboy type say that (mighty wight for you) a few years ago... and when I inquired what he meant by that, he answered - "Mighty wide of you... you know... wide open... giving a wide berth... open minded. open hearted. polite. kind."
And he was genuinely sincere that he was saying "wide" and that he would never say "white". I don't know if he misheard it when he was younger, and used it as some kind of kind thing to say as a gesture of appreciation, or if THAT is the real meaning and others have misheard it and used it as "white". A quick google search seems to indicate that he misheard and has been innocently misusing the phrase...
